Abito, the developer with eponymous apartments schemes in Manchester and Salford Quays is celebrating after a bumper year of sales and awards.
The developer, showcasing its first scheme at Greengate has scooped awards from Insider’s Property Awards, Concept for Living, Premier Guarantee Excellence Property Executive North and the prestigious Roses Design Award.
With its unique tented roof and curved balcony effect, the Abito apartments at Greengate, just three minutes walk from Harvey Nichols, have attracted plenty of attention from the respective judges.
Designed by architects Building Design Partnership (BDP) the 256 ‘intelligent living spaces’ set over eight floors were designed with compact living in mind and all feature a central ‘pod’ housing wardrobe, kitchen, bathroom and storage space – and have a pull-down bed.
In May, Abito was announced as the Residential Developer of the Year at the prestigious Insider Property Awards North West 2007, designed to showcase the excellence within the region’s property sector.
Beating off stiff competition from a range of heavy-weight North-west developers, Abito a subsidiary of Manchester-based developer Ask Developments, won the award for successfully developing affordable, compact-living apartments.
Abito was praised by Michael Taylor, Editor of NW Business Insider magazine, who said: “Abito’s approach is markedly different to its competitors; their Greengate scheme has opened up a new area of the city with a new product that clearly has had considerable design input.”
In June, Abito was again praised by judges at the awards for the home and garden magazine for the North, Concept for Living.
Winning the Best New Build category in the Concept for Living Property Awards was a fantastic achievement, said Les Lang, Managing Director of Abito.
“To win these awards as a relatively young company is tremendous – and testament to the dedication and hard work of the team who undertook an extensive research and development programme prior to the scheme’s construction. The apartments are unique and its concept, ethos and excellent design is recognised.”
Abito was the recipient of the national award for Best Apartment Development in the UK at home warranty scheme Premier Guarantee’s Excellence Awards and received plaudits from Property Executive North when it scooped the Residential Award for Excellence.
Abito also won the category of Best Designed Place in the Roses Design Awards 2007 for projects outside of the M25 area for the design and architecture industry, which was entered into by architects of the Abito concept, Building Design Partnership.
Abito’s next scheme at Clippers Quay, Salford Quays is currently under construction and will include 290 multi-functional Abito apartments, eight of which will be Abito Duos complete with a 600 sq ft roof terrace.
Now only 25 larger Abito+ are still available for sale at Greengate and 50 apartments at Salford Quays, with prices starting here from £109,500.
