First Residents Get Set To Move In

Abito – the company behind the innovative eponymous apartments on the border of Manchester and Salford - has welcomed the first residents through the doors of its award-winning development.

The first 126 residents will be moving into the development at Greengate, Salford as practical completion of the building is announced on 19th March with the further 90 buyers getting the keys to their apartments on 26th March.

The innovative building, which houses 256 intelligent living spaces over eight floors,

is the first in a major redevelopment of the area, known as Exchange Greengate, which is being developed by Ask Developments in a joint venture with Network Rail – and urban regeneration company Central Salford.

The Abito development’s unique roof style has already attracted attention – as has the building’s unusual design both externally and internally.

There are now only 27 of the larger Abito + apartments left to sell – all of which feature a central ‘pod’ for the kitchen, bathroom and utility/storage areas and have a special full sized, fold-away bed, living area and large balcony with a floor to ceiling window.

The Abito + apartments have incorporated additional ‘clever’ features including a zen bath with a special window for watching TV while you bathe, a 10m long lounge – normally only the domain of penthouse apartments  - and an island unit in the kitchen.

Office units have been built on the ground floor of the scheme, which have already been sold to local businesses and will be home to around 50 workers.

Created and designed by Building Design Partnership, the apartments will be rolled out across the UK with the next scheme in Salford Quays already on site.

Les Lang, Managing Director of Abito paid tribute to the team behind the first Abito scheme. “We began working on this scheme way before the first spade went into the ground with an extensive research and development process. The whole team, from the designers, to the project managers and contractors have put 100 % into this and we are very proud of the finished product which we hope to be rolling out across the UK soon.

“We aimed the Abito product at first time buyers, key workers and young professionals who had previously been excluded from buying a stylish, affordable city centre apartment. We are pleased to see that this scheme has appealed to that market and delighted to be welcoming the first residents through the doors.”

Abito + apartments are still available with prices starting from £132,950.
